I am very happy with our experience so far with Varsity Tutors. They matched my daughter with reading specialist Mary and she is wonderful! My 10 year old daughter feels happy after her sessions and believes her tutor has already helped her.

I was one of the kids that liked math when I was younger and I still do today. Math will only get more important as life goes on and I would like to prepare you for that. I don't want you hating math, because once you get through the initial bumps it becomes more familiar and eventually habitual. Next thing you know, you'll be doing everything in your head. I've been around those that started liking math, but later despise it, so I understand what techniques to do to prevent this.

I spent most my life in Abu Dhabi, in the UAE, and went through the International Baccalaureate (IB) program and had very good teachers that I personally had a good relationship with, which helped the whole learning process. I've picked up some good tips and tricks that if learnt can really help you ease through beginning mathematics, whether it be in high school courses or college courses.

I have a large availability primarily online, but am able to drive to those nearby if necessary. I'm an outgoing person, so tutor sessions won't be stale. Quality over quantity. There isn't regurgitation in mathematics, unlike other subjects. Once you learn something it will turn up in future courses, but don't let this discourage you, because this is when it becomes habitual. If you're understanding what you're doing then have no fear math will be a walk in a park and later a hike in the mountains. Still walking :-) .

What is your teaching philosophy?

Understanding is 90% of the game!

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

I will get to know the student then ask what they struggle with in the subject. The first session will be spent addressing each struggle to build a base.
