What is your teaching philosophy?
My teaching philosophy is informed by Paulo Freire's "critical pedagogy." This is an educational philosophy that links the identification of issues to positive action for change and development. The educational process is never neutral. Individuals can be either passive recipients of knowledge or they can engage in a problem-posing approach in which they become active participants. Consistent with critical pedagogy, I firmly adhere to the philosophy that effective learning entails active participation and collaboration by both student and teacher.
