Emergency Medicine Tutoring FAQ
Emergency medicine is an intimidating discipline for many medical and nursing students. It not only demands a mastery of medical principles but also requires that students be able to apply them almost reflexively. For many, the days of careful and calm reflection on a clinical vignette over a cup of coffee can seem like a very distant memory.
Because of the unique stressors, emergency medicine rewards individual approaches to medical application. Pattern recognition, immediate action, and confidence are all things that emergency medical practitioners need to be successful in this field. Unfortunately, many of these traits are not emphasized in traditional medical curricula, and some students take many months before discovering the need to develop them on their own.
Instead of struggling with your development of these traits, consider emergency medicine tutoring. We can help you to connect with tutors who have excelled in the field during their medical or nursing education. Your tutor understands both the knowledge needed to succeed in an emergency medical environment as well as the best approaches to learning that material. Many tutors work full time in emergency medicine and refine their skills every day. You can benefit from their efforts by working with them to carefully develop the skills that you need to be successful in emergency medicine. Additionally, your tutor will know all the tips and tricks to hone your skills. These tutors are not only skilled in the field, but also excellent at teaching emergency medicine. If you want help from someone who can help you master tough concepts in no time, you have come to the right place. Varsity Tutors can help connect you with these highly skilled and professional emergency medicine tutors. Do yourself a favor and call today to get started.
Instead of a high-stress clinical environment, you and your tutor can carefully go through the application of medical knowledge in a relaxed, comfortable atmosphere. You will have one-on-one attention to ensure that you develop the skills you need before you are thrown into the chaos of an ER. You can even schedule face-to-face online tutoring sessions, which use a live interactive platform. Because the approach is tailored to you individually and only focuses on the areas you want to focus on, you may be shocked at how quickly you can make progress. With emergency medicine tutoring, you won't ever waste time on reviewing material you already know, a luxury not afforded in traditional classrooms. Your tutor will spend as much or as little time with you on the topics that you actually need to review! Your tutor will help you set long-term goals and stick to them. Additionally, your tutor will teach you valuable study skills, which you will certainly apply in the future once you see how effective they are. With a private tutor, you will never get bored. Your tutor has interactive and hands-on tools to help you learn. They are used to working with many students who learn in different ways, so your tutor will be able to teach you in a way that suits your needs.
Your future in health care depends on your mastery of basic medical principles and your ability to apply them in high-stress environments. In this way, emergency medicine is an ideal discipline to develop your skills for many other fields. Working with your tutor, you can be confident that the time you invest today can pay off considerably for later endeavors. Recent Emergency Medicine Tutoring Session Notes
Worked on the math and science sections today. Student likes to read straight through the science section and then answer the questions. Although this seems to work very well for the majority of the problems, he misses about 1-2 questions per section. These questions can be easily avoided through taking small notes, which we are currently working on. In regards to the math section, he is getting better and better each session, and now can identify the majority of the problem questions (percentage change, geometry, etc.).
I have given him an additional 3 math questions to work on. This time, however, he should try to do them himself rather than seeking help. In addition, I have also given him a practice science section, which he should try to at least underline key phrases/words in each section.
The student is very enthusiastic about learning and picks up the material well. He makes sure that he understands a problem thoroughly before moving on which shows how much he cares about learning the material.
Today the student and I reviewed material from the global environment section on the exam, outlining key terms such as the nature of the enzyme, heterotrophic vs. autotrophic organisms, cellular respiration, diffusion, and vaccines/antibodies. Next week we will continue this work with an in-depth look at homeostasis. We will also work on the global section of the exam.
Topics Covered: Kinematics, energy, and simple harmonic motion. Progress: We finished the practice final exam in great detail. We also reviewed several problems from a practice midterm. We will finish that up on Tuesday 12/13 and complete an overall assessment of the material on the final. I will also ask the student to complete several questions on his own from memory as practice.
We worked on miscellaneous assignments that had not been submitted. We worked on the final review to prepare for the student's upcoming final. We are not meeting Wednesday because he would like to have to find all of the answers on his own to make sure he learns everything very well for his final. We will meet after the holidays.
In today's session, the student and I practiced exam questions. She seems to be getting better, especially in questions where she has to set up proportions and use the equation of lines/slopes to solve the problems. Topics that she was having trouble with were solving systems of equations, but she seemed to have a better understanding of this after we covered it. The student will try to do as many questions as possible from the remaining test questions. We will go over these in our next session along with other questions.
