Japanese Teacher by Yareli - March 2023 Scholarship Essay
One person that has had a positive impact on me and my education that I will forever be grateful for is my japanese teacher. She no longer works at my school as of my Senior year in highschool, but thanks to her I was able to push through all of the hardships that came from Covid. From family issues to my mental health not being well interfering with my education and in my hardest moments she still pushed me to do my best. To keep going with all that I had left in me.
She made me feel that I still had someone who believed in me. Believed in all that I was capable of. No matter how broken or lost I felt after I let my grades get so bad, to the point I wanted to drop out, she still helped me find the strength to get back up. To keep going no matter how hard my life got during quarantine she never let me give up on my education. She knew I was a good student, a student that worked hard and put my all into my work. She was the only one to see I lost my spark, my motivation and needed someone to help me find it again. She not only helped me in her class, but she was willing to help me in other classes that even she herself didn’t fully understand. Nonetheless I was able to raise my grades and get through each semester since sophomore year. She not only helped me get through my sophomore and junior years of highschool, but she has helped me grow as a person.
Although I am not in the highschool position I feel I am supposed to be in, I will forever thank her, because I am proud to say that because of her, pushing me to turn in my assignments that I never felt were good enough to turn in, I am able to say that I am graduating this year. I will continue trying my best to get me through college. I will do the best that I can and I will push to get to where I dreamed to be in life, because of the one person who chose to see me as a person and not as only a student. Thank you for handing me a tissue to wipe my tears and for giving me your time to hear what I was going through. Thank you for not letting me completely give up on my academics nor myself. Thank you for changing my life in more ways than you might have known.
