Qualities That Earn a Nobel Prize by Uroosa - December 2018 Scholarship Essay
2 Qualities that I believe earn a Nobel prize are persistence and excellence.
Being determined and ambitious are qualities that I think are very necessary for choosing a Nobel prize winner. I say this because, without persistence, one is lacking in their determination of the subject. When someone is showing persistence, they are showing their care and passion of what they're pursuing, even if it means spending hours day and night on it. We all know that success doesn't come overnight- that can be said about a short period of time as well. Being persistent displays our aspiration for achieving our goals and is a great metric for measuring the hard work of an individual.
Normally people think of excellence in school and academics. While I truly believe that studies are significant when it comes to picking a Nobel prize winner, I also think that people express their talents in different ways. Academics may be great for certain individuals to showcase their skills, but for others, it could be a challenge and even a skewed view of their true performance. This is why I believe that to be most fair, judging excellence in a variety of ways is crucial to choosing the correct recipient. This can be in forms of experiments, personal narratives, or even allowing a recipient to express their excellence in their own way. Keeping an open mind when considering one's achievements is more than necessary for selecting the best candidate for showcasing their abilities.
Earning a Nobel prize is a true honor and a great achievement in life. While it may be challenging to pursue our interests and turn them into an entry for earning the prize, it's still worth a shot, especially given one's persistence in the subject. Showing excellence in the field can be displayed in a number of ways- one shouldn't have to worry solely over a certain matter which people find significant. At the end of the day, putting lots of one's effort into learning, working hard, and achieving their dreams, is what will matter when choosing a Nobel prize winner.
