My High School Experience by Tenzin - December 2019 Scholarship Essay

I often think about how different I'd be as a person if I had attended a different high school. I would be in a different environment with different people and a different culture. Four years may not seem very long, but a lot can happen during that time. During my life from age 13 to now, I have changed a lot due to my surroundings.
My school is small, and it has around 600 students. We only take up about two and a half floors, because our space is shared with two other schools.
Both my friends and the staff positively impacted my high school experience. Everyone has been friendly and supportive, and those who have hurt me only taught me how to become stronger. The learning environment at this school is safe and productive, and this helped me do the best I can in my classes.
I prefer smaller communities, so I felt right at home when I was at school. I've learned many things during my time at this school, both academic and beyond the classroom. I doubt I would get a similar experience from another school. During my freshman year of high school, I was more of a timid and quiet person. Now I am in my senior year of high school, and I feel much more self-confident. I've learned to love myself, always be myself, and never give up. Attending my high school has positively impacted me and helped me grow as a person.
