"It's only Drama" by Taneisha - November 2021 Scholarship Essay

"It's only drama, nothing more. It doesn't need funding"
Everyone's first thought about Theatre. Theatre is a class that was used to play stories about legends, stories with morals, and what happens to someone when their actions catch up to them. Or a comedy relief for people to watch a live play of imagining a "What if?" situation of two best friends who bet on each other of who would fall in love first to the ladies they just recently met. With that play, it also comes with the two friends having consequences of betting on who falls in love first. Those types of situations teach others to not follow the men's instructions as they try their best to resist their love for their maidens. Not only comedy but yet plays also teach the audience lessons of the dark truth. As well it puts the students into playing those roles to think of what character is thinking into wondering about their point of view. Because teaching someone about other different options in life you cannot tell and expect them to learn everything. You have to someones put your feet in their shoes to experiment and imagine the different outlines.
It is also a place where students are allowed to be themselves and choose the kind of person that they want to be and who to take after. Which it comes down to using literacy and knowing what and how to put words into explaining or describing what you want to tell. Literacy takes a big role in people's language of what choice of words that they can use to tell a story or a feeling. Theatre is a class that everyone should try. It goes into public speaking and how to show your body movement and why our culture is the way it is. Theatre is the reason why Society is where we are now of using other people's challenges of Race or status due to films and plays that go into the people's life problems of what they have faced and what they deal with. Theatre makes us think about what roles we want to pick with our lives and who we want to look up to.
