What keeps me going. by Tamiera - August 2022 Scholarship Essay

Being excited about school has been something I’ve consistently experienced towards the end of summer and my friends deathly feel otherwise. A new school year pumps me up because it’s like my mind turns it into a game. How can I achieve a new high score, or in this case, how can I outdo myself from the year before?

Fall ‘21 was my first year in college and it created a great base for me as a student. I had straight A’s and B’s which I’ve never experienced before in high school as I always struggled with something academically. Now that I’m entering my sophomore year, I’m going to try my hardest to see if I can turn in all of my assignments promptly and even see if I can maintain all A’s, even just for one semester would be great. These small goals motivate me to keep going when it comes to furthering my education because I know it’s not easy and surely it’s not cheap. Although there have been many goals that I haven’t met, I try not to let them discourage me. I know there is an end to what I’m working towards and I’m just doing my best to get there.
