Walt Disney by Stephanie - September 2013 Scholarship Essay
My academic inspiration is Walt Disney. He was born in Chicago in 1901. He lived with both his mother and father and five other siblings. Walt lived in the 20th century and made an impact on many people in of that time and still today, including me. The reasons I admire him so much is because he was a creative man, he believed in hard work and he accomplished all of his dreams.
The creative ability that Walt had was beyond imaginable. He had so many bright ideas and thoughts. He created various unique characters for his movies and shorts. He named each and every one of his characters on his own. One very creative thing that Walt accomplished was Walt Disney World in Florida. He designed the whole park including Epcot, which was Walt’s idea of the city of the future. I can only wish I had the creativity that he once had.
Walt was also an extremely hard worker. HE worked so hard in school to achieve the education he needed to survive in life and to start his own business. When he was only twelve he started his first job as a paper delivery boy and instead of throwing the papers onto the porch like most boys did he would walk up to the front door and place the paper right inside the door. By doing this he helped out the customers by keeping the paper dry and it gave him a great work ethic. He used this ethic when he created him company. Creating his company was not easy and he did not do it alone. He used his judgment and hired his brother to help out with the company and together they worked hard both mentally and physically to get the Disney Company to the way it is today. Without Walt’s hard work Disney would not be what it today. I hope that someday all my hard schoolwork and individual work pays off as much as his has.
Walt accomplished all of his dreams before he died in fact he actually accomplished more than he ever dreamed. I am sure as a child Walt would sit in school and dream of being a great student and of all the goals he had. His dreaming continued into his adult life as well. When Walt first went to Hollywood his sole priority was to create animated shorts about a mouse. He only had a couple thousand dollars and a second hand camera but by aspiring his dreams he created the cartoon Mickey Mouse. After the creation of Mickey he began to dream more and created hundreds of cartoons that made children of all ages laugh. He created Epcot, FrontierVille, The Magic Kingdom and other parks inside of Walt Disney World. He was definitely a man of many dreams but he accomplished them all. One day I hope that all my dreams of becoming an Elementary teacher and Principal will come true.
Walt Disney has inspired me both academically but in life in general. All the marvelous accomplishments he achieved makes me want to do good in everything I do. I most definitely look up to him. I do not know of any other person who was as creative, hard working, or as big of a dreamer as much as he was. I only hope that someday I can be half the person he was.
