The Future In Our Hands by Sierra - January 2020 Scholarship Essay

Growing up I got to see the amazing advances in every day technology, especially within the walls of my classrooms. In elementary school I had the basic books and computer labs, but when going into middle school we were informed of having Chromebooks and iPad's to use for our advantage. I am a very fortunate student because Oconomowoc High School has not only exceptional technology, but also classes for the use and creation of technology.
The assessments in each and every class have to ability to use technology in creative ways. Each week there is a "Raccoon Rambler" where the students of the school make a 15 minute video, or so, of any current updates in sports, holiday's, teachers, students, etc. My entire academic career has been solely based on the usage and production of technology. Projects have become more creative, peers connect better with one another, and the relationships between students and teachers have grown stronger because of the common interest of technology.
My most memorable assignments are when having the chance to create something such as a poster or slideshow. I love being able to use pictures and insert videos to show the class and express my own knowledge of the subject. Being able to write essay's and stories have become much more fun as well because I can change the fonts, add pictures of emojis, format it any way I want, and overall expand my mind of creativity to come up with something extraordinary.
