One of the most recognized awards that a human can achieve is the Nobel Prize because it embodies those qualities which we have all come to admire and respect above all. If I were on the committee, two qualities the recipients would have to own is passion and dedication. These are qualities I feel shine above the rest, they demonstrate your love and commitment to your work, and how important it is to you. They speak to the volume of hard work and sacrifice the individual winning the prize has endured and persevered through. Above all, these qualities show that the individual is worth the recognition and understands how important his work is.
Passion is a must have qualification, because when someone is passionate about their work, they don’t care about awards but instead they see their work as if it’s their life goal. For example, when you think about Martin Luther King Jr., he is known for how much he cared for his work and believed in what was being done. Someone does not have to be an MLK or Albert Einstein, but to show the love in their own work is how they made such a change and impact of not just their lives but the many lives around them. Many times in other award shows we see artists focused on achieving a trophy, for example, a Grammy, Tony or even an Oscar. Not to say everyone strives for that specific goal but they sometimes forget they created such a song or such a masterpiece in a movie. When I think of passion I think of love, you love the work you do and treat it as if it were as much a part of you as your own hand. Not only does having passion make you love what you do, but it also drives you further to accomplish the goals you set out and makes you work that much harder. Being passionate shows that you’ve put your heart and soul into what you’ve accomplished and let everyone know you have done your outmost.
Dedication much like passion is a qualification that sets many individuals apart. It’s a quality that shows commitment and makes you work much harder than what any ordinary person would. Having dedication proves you will continue your work no matter what obstacle or what problem might arise. When someone is dedicated, failing is not an option, this means that failure is no longer seen in a negative light, instead it is just perceived as a means to finally reach success. If an individual truly embodies the quality of dedication then any hardship that arises they will endure and find the solution. Like passion, dedication pushes you forward makes you focused on the task at hand and does not let you stop until it is achieved. Most important of all though it shows the character of the individual and the lengths he or she will go to achieve your goals.
It is safe to assume that both the qualities of passion and dedication are rarely seen one without the other. The reason for this is that of how well they complement each other and help an individual with their work. Both these qualities feed off one another and continue to propel the individual who embodies them to greater heights. With these two qualities, one can change the world and make a difference knowing their passion and dedication is what can take us a step further in life.
