The Guitar Guy by RJ - December 2015 Scholarship Essay

The Guitar Guy
In 10 years, I genuinely see my self as being a guitarist. I’m not sure if I’ll be in a band playing the electric guitar, or playing solo percussive acoustic guitars, but I know for sure I will be playing guitar. One of my biggest fears in life, is being stuck in a job that I dread going to everyday. That’s why I promised myself that I’m going to pursue music, no matter how difficult that may be. My education will play a huge factor in my success in the music industry. I want to go to SDSU and study either global composition or studio tech and audio design.
If I study global composition, I will definetly learn a lot about creating music, but I would also love to study about studio recording. Hopefully I will be able to do both, but my main goal is to make my own music. I have already made many of my own songs, but once I get a proper education in music, I’ll be able to do so much more. I would love to actually write music for movies, since most of my songs have that kind of feel to them. That’s why studying global composition would be a perfect choice for me. The reason I would want to study studio recording, would be to record myself properly.
College is not only a place where you go to class, study, and take a bunch of tests. It’s a big social hot spot, where one gets to meet all different kinds of people, and people with the same interests as them. In college, I hope to meet more people with the same passion for music as I do. Life isn’t only about what you know, it’s not even just about who you know. Life is about who and what you know, and how to use what you know to make the lives of yourself and the people around you better. College is the perfect place to do that.
So in 10 years, you’ll either be hearing my music on the radio, in movies, or maybe even at a venue near you. The only way for me to do this though, is through hard work and dedication. My studies in school come first, since education is the key to success. My success will be shown in the music that I write.
