I am a very active daydreamer. What that means: In 10 years, I am the greatest music producer in the world. I own the biggest record label in the world, managing the biggest and most popular artists. Quentin Cox becomes a household name. Plus I’m very cool and stylish. I can make that happen in 10 years, right?
In reality, although I’ve taken steps towards that wonderful dream, I still have a lot of ground to cover. Education is an essential cornerstone of a person’s life, whether it comes from a traditional classroom setting, one on one teaching, or online classes, the value of education cannot be understated. As a future business major, my classroom experience and connections I make will be essential if I one day hope to operate a record label, let alone the biggest in the world.
Musical talent can only take me so far, as that is half the formula. The other half is dependent on the real world business and marketing skills I learn through my education. The music industry is a brutal and cutthroat place. As much as I would love to waltz in and make my name known, it’s not that easy when you have millions trying to do the same as you. 10 years is a lot of time. For me, the past year alone has seen the release of 3 albums and numerous singles, with another album in the works. I know that with my education providing me the skills I need as well as my dedication to my craft, I can accomplish exactly what I want in 10 years. And maybe that ridiculously crazy daydream will no longer be as ridiculous or crazy as it sounds.
