The Most Memorable Volunteer Experience by Nuria - May 2018 Scholarship Essay

`A volunteer experience that was experienced is working with younger kids helping and getting to know them better at an after school program, Think Together. This not only helped me learn more about the students but also made me realize that what I thought was the worst experiences ever, were really not and that others have it alot tougher. This not only taught me to collaborate and communicate more with them but gave me the opportunity to help someone who needed it. As a younger version of myself, I went through alot and was put through many situations that these kids were facing and the ebenfit it gave me, was being able to provide them with guidance and any advice they may needed, from social problems to the family problems at home. This volunteer experience was a great thing for not only me , but the littles I woud help. This program was where I found myself alot more and enjoyed being there just to live the experience I had and cherished. Another advantage I had with this was my ability to grasp new things easily and communicate with those around me to help guide the little ones. These are two very important parts of me that define me as an individual because not all of us have the potential to use what they have to those around. These have made me stand out and hope to have impacted many kids that have come across me.This gave me the opportunity to try something new, and gain experience with children, develop skills, and even build confidence and meet new kids from all different backgrounds. Through volunteering I was able to take on a challeng and also getting involved in something new and take on the risks. In the future I can even see myself around that type of environment and kids ahve a great impact on me and I know just what to do to take on the challenges. Wouldn’t have traded this experience for anything in this entire world, because of it I gained so much.
