A Smile Worth Fortunes by Nathan - February 2020 Scholarship Essay

Starting a non-profit organization is not an effortless task. Similar to the process of baking a savory wedding cake or writing a suspenseful novel, there are a vast amount of crucial steps involved to ensure optimal success. Nonprofits range from generous charities for civilian water availability to wildlife support. If I were to start such a prestigious social cause to advocate the sustainability of others, I would choose to organize a group of like minded individuals to build living spaces for little to no income families/villages in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Poverty has put Haiti up against an immovable wall that has been made from hardened steel. The tragedies that scar Haitians are tremendous and appaling. From the savage death squads that wreak havoc on innocent people in the hoods of LaSaline to the corrupt politicians that plague the very Earth Haitian like myself walk upon, this land and its inhabitants are in need for others to stand up and implement change. With the education I will receive in International Business after graduating college and the real-estate license I will obtain shortly in the future, starting this non-profit will be in reach. Not only will the organization assemble refuge for people in need, we will also teach the denizens to establish and manifest their very own accommodations from the resources around them. A vast majority of impoverished Haitian children and adults will benefit extremly from the property itself plus the knowledge they will obtain about the home building process. Generations to come will now have an ace up their sleeve to provide sustainable living for all.
