Encouragement by Morgan - November 2018 Scholarship Essay
One of the many questions high school seniors must answer seems very simple, but the question, “what will your senior quote be,” can cause stress for many students. It seems very insignificant. Just one simple quote. That one simple quote is how people will remember you when reminiscing by looking through their high school yearbooks. It is how underclassmen who never had a chance to speak with you will make their final judgement about you. It shows individuality and creativity and the lack of a senior quote will leave your legacy as “that boring senior”.
In just a few short months I will have to tell the yearbook committee how I would like to be remembered. I would like to be remembered for encouragement. My personal motto to follow is, “if they are alive, they need encouragement”. Encouragement is the air humans breathe. We don’t always realize it but encouragement is vital to survivation. I try to keep an encouraging attitude in all aspects of my life. Telling people how good they are doing while we work the shift together or reminding the students I tutor that they are doing are not stupid, brings a positive attitude to me and the people surrounding me.
My senior quote will be “correction does much, but encouragement does more”. This quote represents everything for and will demonstrate the type person I am for people to see. Encouragement brings happiness to everyone it touches and I would like to remind everyone to be kind and encouraging no matter what.
