Thinking Outside the Box by megan - October 2018 Scholarship Essay

Do you plan out your life and what you do based on what society around you does? Well you shouldn’t. Every single person is different in their own way and should love themself endlessly for it. Society nowadays is awful. Not only kids, but adults all around the world get shamed for being who they truely are. I think it’s time for a change.
Most people are afraid of what others will think or talk about if someone does something “out of the ordinary”. But in reality, what is normal? Who can decide whether what you do is normal or not? No one! If you are ever in a situation where nobody knows what to say or do, come up with your own solution. Think outside the box.
Thinking outside the box may have a different meaning for everyone. In my case, that’s what I live by. That is my life motto. I don’t care what people have to say about me, their opinions are irrelevant to me. Most importantly, thinking outside the box means to think differently, unconventionally, or from a new perspective in any type of situation. Always look at things in more than one way. For example, paying for college. We all know college is very expensive and can be very hard to afford. It may stress you out just as much as it does me. But, if you think in a positive way, you’ll see how much help and support you can receive from not only the college but the people around you. You can get student loans, scholarships, and help from FASFA. There’s always a way to make something happen. Once you conquer, the fear of debt and student loans, you can start to picture your future and how successful you will be. There’s always a brighter side as long as you believe.
Thinking outside the box has also helped me with my school work. If it wasn’t for that motto/quote, I would never have been able to complete tricky test questions, or write a good essay. It’s helped me get good grades and keep a positive mindset about school. I want to be happy in life and the only way to do so, is to do whatever makes you happy. Don’t listen to anyone to tries to bring you down, just do you. Then they will just have to accept defeat that they can’t get to you.
In conclusion, as you grow older, think of all the different scenarios and situations throughout life, and come up with one that’s your own. See if from a different perspective and never give up.
