My Biggest Achievement by McKenna - August 2023 Scholarship Essay

Throughout all of my school experience, there have been multiple achievements. However, my most significant achievement in school was my ability to get accepted into my practicum health science class. This will support my future by allowing me to take a certification test at the end of the year and will enable me to become a patient care technician. This is the first of many steps getting me closer to becoming a CRNA.
My goal has always been to have a career in the healthcare field. Over time I narrowed it down to being a nurse and recently decided on a CRNA (anesthesiologist nurse). Since the medical field is growing continuously, getting into medical school, nursing school, etc, is highly competitive. Getting as many certifications, advantages, and awards as possible helps me get the upper hand in becoming a CRNA.
Practicum is a class that teaches me a lot of valuable medical information and allows me to get the certificate at the end of the year if I pass the test. Many schools do not have a practicum class, so for me to participate in it is a huge advantage.
Engaging in real-life situations and shadowing doctors gives me a proper perspective on what I'm getting myself into. Just being a part of this program makes me feel accomplished. It is something I, as well as my family, are very proud of. This also supports my future uniquely and gives me a perspective that many people don't get so early on.
With all things considered, Practicum is by far the most significant achievement in my education thus far. It prepares me for future circumstances and responsibilities and gives me a perspective of what being in the medical field may look like for me.
