Striving for More by Marc - March 2018 Scholarship Essay
Henry Ford Once said, "You get old when you stop learning." What he said was that it is essential for people to keep learning and to continue their education so that they will never grow old. My name is Marc Aguilar, and the Importance of attending college is that it will get you a career you choose to have and be proud of for the rest of your life. You will have more options towards what you want to be when you grow up versus having to find one you won't be happy with and most likely get paid less.
Continuing to learn is valuable because I have learned from experience. My parents didn't get the opportunity to continue their education. For me to Continue to learn and strive for more has influenced me to pursue my education and to go beyond high school. The fact that my parents have sacrificed a lot to get me to where I am today. They had worked hard to get me the resources I needed to get there, such as a computer to write my essays on and hire a tutor to help me out when I needed it. I want to graduate knowing that I completed what my family did not have the opportunity to do, and that is going to college. One will have a better life if they continue to learn and not be without anything. To have more doors and opportunities open.
Getting a career, you choose to have is something one gets when they advance to higher education. For me, my Interest is media which began since I was a kid, more specifically in the form of film and television. Film and TV shaped whom I have become, it addressed messages like the importance of family, never giving up, and reaching for the impossible. Since I was a kid, this type of media sparked my talent in storytelling. During my last years in grade school, I made short stop-motion videos using toys I had around my room, and then I would show them to my friends. In middle school, I did videos on my IPad, and then I would show them to my family and relatives on special occasions. During these recent years in High school, I noticed that my passion for visual storytelling has grown. I took a Film class which gave me a broader view of the process of filmmaking. I would then put all my effort into all the projects conferred and would execute them in the best possible way. Your interests are what drives you to choose a career in that field when you strive for higher learning.
