My Biggest Goal for This Year by Maggie - September 2020 Scholarship Essay

I have many goals for my senior year of high school. It's an important year where many decisions need to be made. This can be very stressful, because you need to focus on the present, but you also always need to have the future in the back of your mind. My future education is essentially planned out, and now I am just waiting for the details to get finalized. While waiting, I need to remain focused on my current year in school with the goal of finishing strong.
My primary goal this year is to stay focused amidst all the typical distractions of senior year. This year is anything but typical, given all the ever changing circumstances with the pandemic and school looks very different. My senior year consists of all virtual learning at my house, on my computer. It won't be easy to stay focused, and that is why I am making it my primary goal. I want to stay committed to my grades, maintain my 4.0 GPA, and put forth all of my effort.
Staying focused means one thing, but I want to dig deeper. Instead of cramming my studying into the night before a test, I plan to study a little bit every night. This will create good study habits for college and help solidify the things I am learning. I will then be able to store and retain what I’ve studied, because I will keep reviewing the information. This will help me be more prepared for tests, improve my study habits and hopefully improve my test scores.
With all the uncertainty in our world today, it is important that I can remain focused in my school work. Typically seniors tend to give up with their school work, as they just want to graduate and move on with their lives. This can end up negatively impacting your GPA and also result in the development of poor study habits for the future. That is why I am making it a priority to stay focused on my school work throughout this year.
