Should Students Attend College? by Mackenzie - April 2020 Scholarship Essay

Did you attend college, or were you among some of the people whose professions didn't require you to go to college? Every profession is different, and they all require different requirements. Doctors have to go to college to get their degrees to be able to treat patients but, construction workers, on the other hand, don't have to go to college. Yes, construction workers have to do different types of training, but they do not require you to go to college. Think, if your profession didn't require you to go to college, would you?
College is an amazing place to continue your education and to get your degree in what you want to do next in life if it requires it. To me, college is for people whose profession requires the degree. Yes, it helps to have it with getting specific jobs if you are certain of what career you want to go into but, if you know what you want to do to and it doesn't require you to have the degree, then why go into more debt. Don't get me wrong, college is where you find yourself and learn how to become an adult but still have schooling, but college isn't for everyone, and there are other ways of "growing up" than college. There are trade schools, peace corps, and some people even go into the military.
College is important to attend if your profession requires it; otherwise, in my eyes, you are going into debt when it's not necessary. You can be working making money at your job that doesn't require you to have your degree; instead of paying for an expensive college where you could maybe work a minimum wage job while you're at school trying to pay off your student loans. It all depends on what you want to do in life and what your job title requires you to have.
