Passion is Contagious by Mabri - July 2016 Scholarship Essay

The majority of my life has involved being in school and there is one key thing that I have learned from teachers. I've learned that enthusiasm and passion are both key to leading others. Some are not the best at communicating, others have problems with organization, but the thing that makes the most memorable and interesting teacher is their passion for the topic they are teaching.
In my opinion, the goal of teachers should be to provide students with a craving for being the best in our desired field and instilling in us the passion to learn and think creatively so we can eventually go do something that we love. I can think of a few teachers that, even though they weren’t able to cater to my specific learning style, kept me interested in what they were teaching. I loved those classes because of the passion that the teacher had for their field. If a teacher loves what they are doing it is easy to see and is contagious. No one wants to be around someone that is complaining and doesn’t like their job. Having a teacher that loves what they do can only make things better and it also makes them a better teacher.
Teachers should be role models and inspire students to do the best they can. Those who have passion are definitely inspiring. Teachers have inspired me to find the thing that I love to do and to pursue it whole-heartedly. I wish to be as passionate about my career as they are. This lesson has taught me so much in finding myself and my interests for pursing a degree at, specifically, Judson University. Going into my freshman year I was undecided on my major and after lots of thought, I realized I wanted to go into Sports Administration. After starting the introduction classes for my major, I saw how much passion the professors had for their job. I long for my life to have to same passion that my teachers have shown through their life.
