Supporting My Future Goal by Lysandra - August 2023 Scholarship Essay
I dream of becoming a renowned graphic designer and creating my own future business outside my home city of El Paso, Texas. As an undergraduate in college, my main goals are to explore different paths of my career choice and look for inspiration to grow my passion for design, colors, graphics, and media.
The most impactful achievement for me thus far, as I head into my second year towards my bachelor's degree, was working my way to an internship doing something I love. As a graphic design intern in the Marketing and Communications Division at my university, I've been a part of many projects that make visual representations of UTEP in the best ways, transforming my creative ideas with the help of my supervisors and colleagues, making social media posts, presentations, posters, and merchandise. By working here my experience in graphic design will develop along with my studies.
This internship and the knowledge I get from it will better my future as a graphic designer as it will teach me skills that might not come from the courses I take but from experience within the career. Working with professionals who love what they do and the impacts that it has on the campus community has taught me many elements of graphic design thus far, of good branding. Also, clientele approvals because at the end of the day, my job will be to take the customers' ideas and imaginations and make them a reality through graphic art, demonstrating simplicity, campus colors, school spirit, creativity, etc.
Along with bettering myself through my internship, I will also maintain my grades and studies so that when I look back on these hardworking days, I'll be in the right place I belong. I may not know where the road ahead will lead me, but I know it will be somewhere fabulous because of the diligence and drive I will continue to keep in check throughout my college career.
