Becoming A Corporate Lawyer
By: LeDajah Williams
Describe your dream job, as well as how your college plans will help you reach this goal.
My dream job is to become a corporate lawyer. I want to become a corporate lawyer because I have very strong interest in managing business transactions, legal agreements, and other business-related activities. I also want to become a corporate lawyer because no one else in my family is an attorney, so I would be the first person in my family to accomplish this goal. I know that for me to become a corporate lawyer, I will have to stay focused and study diligently
To accomplish my goal of becoming a corporate lawyer, I will earn a bachelor’s degree in a business discipline from a four-year university. At this point, I am undecided about what area of business I would like to study; however, I know I am interested in learning about Marketing, International Business, and Business Administration and Management. While I am in undergraduate school, I will put forth 100% effort in everything that I do. I know that I am going to excel in my college coursework because one of my best character traits is diligence. My diligence will also help me exceed in law school because it will enable me to endure the rigorous curriculum that I know that I will have.
Another way that I will accomplish my goal of getting my dream job is to blossom as both a student and a person while I am in college. I plan to grow by doing several different things. First, I plan to partake in rigorous research studies locally and abroad. One day I would love to embark in a study abroad program in Europe or South America because both of those places interest me. I believe that a study abroad program will help me gain more experience and acquire more knowledge in my field of study. Secondly, I plan to be involved in organizations such as student government and the debate club. Being involved in these organizations will help me develop important skills that will assist me later in my career. Thirdly, I plan to build close relationships with my professors and advisors so that I can assist them with projects, and I also want the opportunity to network with professionals. Finally, I plan to go outside of my comfort zone and expand my social circle in college so that I will be able to establish my own support group. I want to build long-lasting friendships that will help me in the professional world.
I hope to become a successful corporate attorney by the time that I am thirty years old. After I graduate from a four-year university with a Business Degree, my intent is to immediately attend law school. I truly believe that I will be able to accomplish all my goals because I am definitely “self-motivated” and “self-determined”.
In conclusion, I believe that my well-developed college plans will help me to achieve my dream job to become a corporate lawyer.
