My Education Goals by Kyona - December 2020 Scholarship Essay

My education New Year’s Resolution is to save up a few thousand dollars to pay for my first year of tuition and avoid taking out as many loans as possible. Shortly after the pandemic started my dad and I were not able to make a livable wage for a month and my dad really needed help raising my sisters and I. We took out the small portion of money I had in my savings in order to pay for necessities such as food and our other bills.
At first this didn't bother me because I was never fully set on going to college, and I kept debating if I could afford it or not. This pandemic made me realize my interest in working as a nurse, and how I need to continue my education to achieve these goals.
At this moment I try to put at least half of my weekly pay into my savings so I can save up as much as possible before I start college next Fall. For Christmas I asked my family for only money so I could use all of that money for my tuition as well. This scholarship would help me become closer to my goals and reduce the stress of paying my tuition on my dad and I.
