Senior Yearbook Quote by Kyle - November 2018 Scholarship Essay

Now that I am officially a senior, I am beginning to focus more on the important decisions that will impact my life. For example, what college will I attend, how I will pay for college, and what I am going to major in, to name a few of the many decisions I have to begin to ponder. However, the most important question I must answer this year - what will my senior quote be? My senior quote may be the last thing that people from my high school remember me for. Thus, I need to make it count. Fortunately for me, I already have my senior quote, thanks to a beloved movie from my childhood, Barnyard. The main characters father, Ben, told his son minutes before he was mauled by coyotes, “A strong man stands up for himself. A stronger man stands up for others.”

Barnyard is a movie about farm animals that can walk on two legs and talk, while the farmer is away. The protagonist, Otis, is a teenage cow who does not take his responsibilities seriously and only wants to party with his other barnyard friends. However, as the story progresses, Otis realises that when he slacks off, there are consequences for his actions, such as the death of his father, Ben. This quote, although spoken by an animated cow, is an accurate depiction of me as a person. I learned from a young age, that it takes courage to stand up for yourself, but it takes even more courage to stand up for others. I have never been the tallest or the biggest kid in my class, but I have always been one of the most outgoing. If I see something I believe to be unjust, I will speak up about it. I have always stood up for what I believe in, and that is why I believe this to be the perfect senior quote.
