My Goal to Become a Physical Therapist by Krystle - December 2015 Scholarship Essay
Many people who are my age don’t constantly think about where they see themselves ten years from now and when we do, it really makes us think. Such thoughts run through our minds like “Will I have graduated from college?”, “Will I have a job?”, “Will I still be relying on my parents for things?” and many other thoughts when we think about where we see ourselves ten years from now. I, personally, see myself as a practicing physical therapist in ten years. I want to pursue becoming a physical therapist and the only way that will happen is through my education.
Education is our foundation and there are many reasons why it is purposeful. We need it to develop intellect, serve social needs, contribute to the economy, to create an effective work force, to prepare us for a career, and to promote a particular social or political system.
Being a physical therapist is something I really want to be when I am an adult. Throughout my life I helped many people one way or the other and I have taken an interest in majoring in kinesiology, so I have decided that I plan on becoming a physical therapist. That way I will be doing something I am interested in and will be helping people at the same time.
As students, some of us may not understand why we need to be taught certain subjects and how it correlates to what we will be majoring in. Truthfully, every single subject is our cornerstone of the skills we will need to succeed in our career. Going to college will give me all the theoretical knowledge before I can work in this career. I’ll also be able to learn to engage with other people and work as a team. The fact remains, for me to achieve my goal to becoming a physical therapist will be determined on how well I do in college.
