From an Underdog to a Leader
As a student of Bucks County Technical High school I am in a technical shop, and that shop is civil engineering. Going into that shop I defiantly felt like an underdog because there are students in this shop that have higher GPA then me and a higher class rank, but as a confident freshmen at the time I was eager to learn and show that I can hold my place in civil engineering.
One of the first obstacles I had to overcome was this program called AutoCAD . It takes a lot of skill and being good at math to master this program. My teacher had given us all an assignment to complete on this program and I could not figure it out. I must have failed ten times trying to complete this drawing. An advantage to failing is seeing what not to do the next time around you try and I wasn’t just able to figure out how to draw the figure correctly I was able to learn a few tricks on AutoCAD before any of the other students. I didn’t just impress my teacher but also myself.
Now as a senior in civil engineering I am glad to say I am the president of the AIAS occasion for architects which have a lot to do with AutoCAD. My experience as coming in feeling like an underdog but leaving as a leader shows that with confidence and perseverance anyone can succeed in a field they feel may be too difficult.
