Dream Job by Juliett - February 2019 Scholarship Essay

My Dream Job

My name is Juliett Andreu. I am a high school senior who has suffered from bullying for the past few years and the administration at my school never did anything to help me so when I finally took matters into my own hands I was in trouble and got blamed for everything and they chose the bully over me because the bully was a star athlete and I feel bad for the millions of children like me. I was also diagnosed with bipolar disorder and bipolar depression at the age of seven, I’ve been on and off different medications for the past ten years .
My dream job is to be a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) and have my own practice as a therapist. My main focus would be children with major depression or bipolar depression because growing up all I needed was someone who I knew I could confide in. I only had a therapist for about two years and then I stopped going because my mother couldn’t afford to leave work to take me. If I had the opportunity to begin and complete my college education I would make a difference by not only having my own office but if someone needed me to go to them I would be able to make it to them. This is my dream job because not only do I feel that therapy is such an amazing help but, I also strongly feel that if children have someone to talk to it would lessen violence levels in children and within the people around them.
My college plans will help me succeed with my dream job because I intend to find an internship at an office and allow myself to work in not only child therapy but also everything else such as marriage counseling, addiction therapy and behavioral therapy with adults. I also intend doing an excessive amount of research with the proper training and knowledge. I also intend on beginning a more efficient no bullying campaign/charity that will help children who are victims of bullying and have no one to go to.
