My New Year's Resolution by Julie - December 2020 Scholarship Essay
I plan to achieve a lot in 2021, this is going to be the year in which I graduate from high school and begin the next chapter of my life. I aspire to do a lot, but the thing I am most looking forward to doing is moving out and attending a 4-year college.
My older sister planned to move out for college 6 years ago, but unfortunately her plans fell through and she ended up attending community college. Her not being ready to leave home and not being able to decide on a major kept her here and she's been living at home since. I hope to do the opposite, and take the big step into adulthood that she hasn't been able to make and move into my future school (hopefully UC Santa Cruz).
One step that I will take in order to achieve my resolution is to apply to as many scholarships as I can to minimize my college tuition and living costs as much as possible and not be in debt. I also plan to learn basic life skills such as driving, cooking, and time management in order for my transition to go as smoothly as possible. Overall I hope that 2021 is better than 2020 and everything I am looking forward to doing happens for me.
