Better Late than Never by Joshua - March 2019 Scholarship Essay
So you’re on your way to your first year of High School. IT’s quite the jump from junior high. While there is probably much you fear right now, I’m here to tell you there’s nothing to do but look forward. High school is what many call “the good ole days,” of life. Keeping that in mind, here’s some advice to make your “good ole days,” the best days.
My advice would be to reach out into the extracurricular activities. Whether it’s a sport, club, or a musical group, all are great choices as long as you enjoy what you do there. These functions can give you friendships that can last throughout high school and even beyond that. Valuable life lessons can be gained from these groups.
I strongly urge you to realize that it’s never too late to try out for something. In my senior year, I tried out for basketball because it was a sport I had found a passion for recently. Despite never playing in any organized basketball league (not including a church league,) I tried out anyways. It took months of hard work and hours upon hours spent at the gym, but come fall time, coach let me know, to my happiness, that I had made the team. Following that day, I continued to work hard throughout the season and got to start my last game. I had also found a new family of people I will never forget and always cherish. So just always remember that you can achieve your passion with a lot of hard work.
