To Further My Own Abilities by Jonathan - September 2020 Scholarship Essay
My biggest goal for this school year is to graduate high school with my GE completed. I want to get as big a head start on my education as I can. Getting college credit in high school—through AP and concurrent enrollment—is a really cheap alternative to the actual tuition of classes out of high school. I want to be able to finish my schooling, get a Bachelor’s degree, and start on my career and life as soon as possible.
Education and good money practices are both very key values of mine, so I am taking advantage of my opportunities in high school to get as much of my college done as I can. Also, I am very passionate about learning and the growth of understanding and knowledge. I enjoy school and the learning process. Though it is sometimes frustrating, I am always eager and willing to learn and to push myself where I am weak. In fact, I have a hard time doing anything if I am not being challenged. I love a difficult obstacle, because I know that I will be better, stronger, and wiser for overcoming it.
Finally, I see the great need for furthering my own education on a daily basis. I program applications and games in my free time, and constantly I am hit with surprise problems that I don’t have the skills to surpass, or that would be infeasible to attempt. I want to become more knowledgeable and more experienced so that I can know how to overcome such obstacles when I face them; I know that pushing my limits and going all in for my GE (before high school graduation) and then my BS in CS is a sure way to accomplish this aspiration.
