Too busy to be efficient by Jolene - July 2016 Scholarship Essay
The most important lesson that I learned from a teacher, although it was not intentional on her part, was that if you are in too much of a hurry to be organized then really you are not going to get much done. This lesson came to me from my fourth grade teacher, who was always in a hurry and everything that she did was rushed.
I remember on a few occasions I forgot to do my homework, and instead of telling her, I simply put the blank worksheet on my desk so she could "check" and make sure it was done. She, then, passed by my desk so quickly that she didn't even notice that it was incomplete. My teacher was a wonderful lady, who taught me a lot of incredible things but she was very disorganized.
One other time, one of my classmates was upset at something that I had said, so he wrote a note the teacher telling her about the situation, but she never found the note, due to the fact that her desk was always astonishingly cluttered. She never took time to organize or place things somewhere that she would know where to find it, so she wasted a lot of time looking for missing items. Whereas, if she had slowed down and taken a little more time to be organized, it would have been much more efficient in the long run.
