Throughout my academic journey, I’ve been privileged to absorb many invaluable lessons from my peers, teachers, and mentors. Last summer, my quest for knowledge led me to an enlightening socratic seminar at Columbia University, where the intricate tapestry of citizenship’s historical evolution and contemporary manifestations was unveiled. The profound insights gleaned from this experience spurred me to take action, and in the spirit of giving back, I embarked on a transformative civic leadership project that would leave an indelible mark on my growth and aspirations.
Guided by the spirit of education and community upliftment, a group of my peers and I embarked on a civic leadership endeavor that sought to shed light on the pressing issue of gun violence within New York City schools. Drawing from the knowledge acquired during the Socratic seminar, we orchestrated a series of impactful presentations aimed at not only raising awareness but also equipping our audience with actionable ways to contribute to the cause.
