I plan on majoring in Mass Media Studies with a plan to minor in business administration or communications. I chose this major because I grew up in an era where the Media is very important. In my generation, society gets information about almost anything through the media. Media has taken over the world globally, and I'm here for it. It intrigues me how you can find out about the other side of the world just through a simple scroll through a phone or other resources. I want to be a part of spreading information positively to the public, regardless of whether it is behind the scenes, or myself sharing.
I also plan on Majoring in Mass Media studies because it will allow me to learn about different things. It opens doors to a spectrum of careers, such as journalism, communications, public relations, broadcasting, etc. I am a very open-minded individual and I'm excited to see what studying in mass media has to offer me. Media is continuously evolving and I feel that I would have so many opportunities in this field. An opportunity that I am very eager about in college is to have an internship that works with communications and the media. I want hands-on experience that allows me to work with organizations for media outreach.
I come from the big city of Chicago, where different events whether it’s positive or negative happen every second of the day. Thanks to me having the resources of the media, taught me how to be safe in my community, lessons, showed me different aspects of the world and cultures, being a woman, and so much more. I want to be a part of that, I want to be a part of change in society and make an impact. I feel that anything that is shown to the public through the media makes an impact.
