An Underrated Class by Joclynn - November 2021 Scholarship Essay
This year, my final year of high school, I decided to take a personal finance class. This class is definitely underrated and needs to be taught more in schools everywhere. I have learned a great number of skills concerning finances and business. The next few years will be crucial for me personally when it comes to my pecuniary habits due to attending college starting next fall. I will have to save as much money as possible and begin to handle student loans. Learning about student loans and how to deal with debt in my finance class has caused a huge difference in my financial customs as I am now aware of how much the value of each dollar truly is. I have also learned about how to create and stick to a budget in order to save the maximum amount of money possible or to pay all of your bills.
This class teaches students how to be financially successful in their lives by giving them skills in budgeting, investing, building good credit, and saving money. These skills can help to instill good money habits in young adults to avoid lifelong debt or the possibility of living paycheck to paycheck. Not every student has the opportunity to learn financial excellence skills at home, so a class in school may open the eyes of many more students all over the world. Because of this class, I have learned so much more about the steps I can take to be financially successful, and I hope more students can learn these same skills as well.
