The Right to Education by Jeanette - January 2021 Scholarship Essay

Education is merely a catalyst to take in all the information our environment provides us. Beginning at infancy, our bodies take in billions of stimuli; sounds, tastes, smells, textures, and sights. Every stimuli from our environment send neurons through our brains and provide us with information. Everyone experiences this and everyone has the right to understand it.
As humans, we have a natural curiosity for every piece of information we take in. We wonder why it gets dark, why people have different skin colors, and why things fall to the ground. Imagination serves as the answer to most of our questions, but at a certain point, it no longer provides us with the explanations we need to satisfy our curiosity. At one point or another, we being to search for more answers. Education is the one thing that provides us with answers; and not just blind answers, we're provided with explanations, proof, and experiments in which we get to see how and why the world is the way it is. Family background, social status, and wealthiness should in no way be a contributing factor to whether or not a person deserves to be educated. It is a human right to understand more about the world we live in beyond the explanations our imagination gives us.
One way or another, we learn about our environment and others around us. Education helps us learn and understand more about the world and gives us insight into the difficult questions in life. Everyone who lives on this earth, regardless of race, class, or gender, deserves the opportunity to learn about it.
