The Perfect Student by Jasmine - January 2016 Scholarship Essay
What defines a perfect student? Is it their GPA? Is it their tenacious hunger for success? Although many say perfection can never be achieved, I strive for it every day. My education is extremely important to me, which is why I strive to be a perfect student. I am aware this goal I seek out far may be impossible, but the reassurance of knowing that I will constantly improve as a student in the process keeps me fighting. I view a perfect student as an individual who does in fact have an outstanding GPA, a positive and ambitious attitude, and not to mention plays a significant role at their school and in their community by staying involved.
The reason why I am still fighting for this perfection is because I have not quite mastered all of the important characteristics of a perfect student. However, 2016 may be the year where I triumph. Currently I have an outstanding GPA of a 3.93 and have always had a determination and passion towards my education. Unfortunately, I am not as involved as I would like to be. That is why my 2016 New Year’s Resolution is to become more involved at my school and in the community.
One of the ways I plan on achieving this resolution is by “Going Greek!” What better way to get involved than to become a part of an organization that is all about giving back and empowering yourself and others in the community. Not to mention, this is seen as a great vessel to make incredible relationships that can be very beneficial in the future. In 2016 I see myself as a sorority sister, that’s constantly making a positive impact not only on campus, but in local community activities as well.
Another way I plan on improving on my positive social involvement is by competing in scholarship pageants. In the past, I competed in a scholarship pageant, and it was a very empowering experience that fostered important leadership skills that I now encompass. This year I plan on competing in a scholarship pageant to not only cultivate skills that will benefit me for a lifetime but to also serve as an influential member of the community as well. In the process of just being a contestant in a scholarship pageant, the organization not only gets you involved such as being able to meet important city council members, but in fact they train the contestants during the pageant process to be impactful role models. This is why I will be competing. My motivation is to not simply win a receive scholarship money but to also continue prospering as a devoted student that improves their defining qualities each and every day.
As it shows, I have very high hopes for 2016. I will become my definition of a perfect student. Or I’ll simply just get as close as humanly possible. Either way, I look forward to my endeavors as a sorority sister and scholarship pageant contestant. Of course throughout the year other ways of getting involved on campus and in the community will present themselves and I will definitely seize those opportunities. I’m no psychic, but I must say 2016 will be my year.
