My dream by Jasmine - December 2015 Scholarship Essay

My dream... so many comes to mind; however, only one beat the odds and outshines all others. This specific dream involves me obtaining my doctorate degrees in both psychology and business management. Once earned those two degrees, I'll go on to create my own foundation proving aid to families whom suffer financial and physical disabilities. With this I will give counseling sessions to teens as well as adults to help them overcome certain problems in their lives that they are unable to comprehend and endure by themselves. My business will be to provide entrepreneurship skills to those whom are less fortunate which will drive them to start his or her own small business and get back out in society. Also I will go on to give back to my community and provide youth centers for adolescents. That way they would be granted with a positive role model as well as positive activities to prevent them from becoming victims to the harsh streets.
Initially, this dream gives me hope that one day I'll be able to change someone's life and be the reason why they continue trying. Reason being, I enjoy the active role of aspiring individuals to motivate themselves in reaching excellence and solving whatever crisis they may be enduring at the time or even past relations that may have been long buried, yet still have a significant effect on the individual as of today. This passion for care derived from personal life experiences in which I've had to overcome personally throughout the journey of my life. For instance, being an individual who would always be criticized and patronized by fellow peers whom tried so hard to break me. However, within myself I found the strength to keep my head held high and move forward. Also, there is my anxiety disorder in which causes me to stress excessively.
On the other hand, I am highly acknowledged about the challenges that I will have to overcome and the hurdles which I will have to leap over in order to accomplish this. That is why I am even more determined to continue putting my all into my academics and being a positive role model to my younger siblings and those whom look up to me. I will have to work ten times as hard because I come from nothing, so in all reality my dreams are my dream, but they are derived from my guardians struggles as well as those in my community which I see each and every day.
All in all, through the midst of my depression, health related issues, financial hardships, and constant criticism on the basis of those matters and the pigment of my skin; I’m a humble, courageous, and determined individual. Many will consider me as an overachiever, but it’s just that I know my potential. I need this scholarship not only for myself, but also my family and community. This will give us all something to be hopeful for and a sign to keep pushing forward. Thus, in 10 years I see myself making all my dreams as well as those of others come true. From toy drives, to scholarships, to back to school bashes I want to do it all. Travel the world, write books, fall in love, mentor, etc. My education will be my guide, strength, and support as to why I have to keep pushing forth and never give up.
