The Power of Education by Jake - April 2015 Scholarship Essay
I have many strengths. I have been blessed with multiple abilities that have amazed both me personally and many others.
Perhaps my greatest strength, no less, is the humility it takes in acknowledging that I do not know it all. I don’t. As a high school graduate with a diverse resume, I do not have the knowledge it takes to be all I can be. I need more. What I need is a specific, structured, life-empowering education.
An education strengthens me. It gives me the knowledge base and skill set that I need to serve the community going forward. It gives me the nuts and bolts that previously I have not known. My ultimate desire is to pursue a career in pharmacy and/or medical research that will allow me to better the lives of those around me. I am incapable of doing that as I now stand, for I need more specifics. I need an education to empower me… to gird me… to give me the tools necessary to be all I can be – to humbly provide me with the proper set of qualifications to function as a thriving member of society.
I believe that an education is bettering; I believe it is good. An education is the difference between dancing through life and sincerely contributing to the lives of those around me. Hence, I embrace a rigorous and strength-giving education. I look forward to what I can learn. Something only attainable through education.
