Soft Skill In Education by Jacob - February 2023 Scholarship Essay
When it comes to soft skills being connected to a successful education there are a lot of different examples that could be applied such as teamwork, communication, problem-solving, critical thinking, and time management. Now even though there are multiple different examples, the one that I believe has the most impact on having a successful education is the ability to work with others using teamwork. No matter what educational path you choose to take, this is something that will always be needed both throughout your schooling and once you actually get into your job after graduation. Working with other people is something that everyone will have to be able to do at some point in their life if they want to be successful.
Now when you think about education, working with a team might not be the first thing you think about but as much as school can be individual when it comes to assignments and classes, there are also group activities that will be done to help prepare you for working with other people after you graduate and actually get into the career you chose. Being able to work with a team is one of the most beneficial things that you can do. Not only does it allow you to be more efficient about your work but it also helps you by creating healthy competition within the team, promoting strong working relationships, and allowing you to learn from one another. Being able to collaborate with other people throughout your schooling will allow you to not only get help from others on things you may not understand as well but it will also lead to more and closer friendships with the people around you.
Teamwork can also contribute to the learning and growth of other soft skills that are also important such as communication and social skills. Being able to communicate with others such as your leaders and coaches and hearing out their ideas and then following up with your own ideas is very important in today’s education as it can help prepare you for the real world. Without having well-developed communication skills, you as the student could run the risk of falling behind your peers and becoming emotionally overwhelmed. Communication can also help students understand their own individual roles within the team and doing so will help the group work together as one cohesive unit to get the best possible outcome for every assignment. Forming healthy relationships with the people around you who have similar goals as you will allow you to grow every day so you can become the best version of yourself.
So when it comes to education, soft skills play a vital role in every different aspect there is when it comes to being a successful student. Skills such as being able to work with others to reach a common goal through communicating different ideas along with the relationships you will form through doing so are only going to help you better yourself throughout your educational path while also preparing you for your after-education life.
