Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious by Hannah - March 2018 Scholarship Essay
Imagine climbing the steps high up into the spacecraft and buckling in and preparing for take off. Listening to the count down and waiting for blast off before you soar high into space and look down on earth. What an adventure it would be to be an astronaut. You can be anything you aspire to be with hard work, perseverance, and the proper education. When you get older, it becomes scary to try new things or travel on new adventures. While simply learning and knowing more, you will have more confidence when answering the teacher’s questions. For instance, imagine you have been chosen to represent the 2nd-grade class at a spelling contest. You are super excited that you were chosen, but you seem a little nervous to stand up in front all those people. Luckily, you practiced dozens of times spelling out super complicated words like supercalifragilisticexpialidocious so when you stand up to spell supercalifragilisticexpialidocious you spout it out with ease leaving everyone impressed. Because you had this unknowing confidence, you won the spelling bee. Just like you remembered and learned how to spell every word on the list given to you, which led to you being more confident, it is important that you continue learning so you will have confidence when you are older. Now, I know your dreaming of becoming a firefighter, astronaut, doctor, teacher, or even the President of the United States, but I’m going to let you in on a little secret you cannot get a job with just a second grade education (I know when I found that out I was a little bummed too). I know your aspiring and looking forward to that dream job, but you will only be able to have that job if you continue learning, and trust me I understand some days you just feel like not going to school, but believe me in the end, it will be completely and totally worth it. Remember, it is important to always continue learning after all, you would not have won that spelling bee or become the President of the United States if you stopped learning.
