Life and Lessons by Hannah - November 2016 Scholarship Essay

In college, I hope to experience a whole new life for myself. High school has taught me that people are not always there for you, never care when they say they do, and that it does not matter who you are and what you do in high school because college will change everything. My goal for college is to set new standards for myself, and with that, the part of a college experience I will be most thankful for is a clean slate- a fresh start at being myself.
I have not been the most popular, most talented,or the best athlete, but I always strive to do my best. In college, no one knows you or your past. You have new opportunities and new people to change your life. There is a quote I always try to live by, "Be yourself, and don't stress over what other people think about you. After all, it's only high school, it doesn't matter in the long run." High school doesn't define the rest of your life. I believe that college is a chance to meet new people, and a chance to redefine who you are.
I will also be thankful for new challenges, beyond the simple high school work. I want to stay up until three in the morning writing an essay for my major. I want to do everything in my power to work harder than I ever have to pursue my passion. I wish to sign up for any activity possible, and do all that I can, because in the end, I want to be able to say "I did it all, I lived."
