Mind of Hard Worker by Haley - October 2019 Scholarship Essay

When we were younger, we all looked up to someone in our lives. We saw them as marvelous and aspired to be just like them. Numerous people have a person they look up to academically. Mine is not an actual person, but a character from a TV show called Criminal Minds.
I've watched Criminal Minds for a couple of years now. I've grown to look up to a particular character on there. The character's name is Spencer Reid. On the show, he is depicted as a genius and a boy wonder. He has extensive education, including multiple PhDs, and started high school at a young age. He is widely respected for his intelligence and solves countless problems that the team faces in the show. I saw this and thought that I wanted to be just like that.
Of course, I'm not a wonder child with a brain that works the way it is represented on Criminal Minds. So I knew that if I wanted to get to such a level, I would have to work more than everyone else and work harder to achieve what I wanted. I was academically inspired and went into my school year with a newfound perspective on my education. That was the best year I've had academically.
Since then, I've been working to keep my grades at A's and my GPA above a 3.5. I have been taking college courses to get a head start before I officially leave high school. It's been difficult work, but I have been seeing the positive repercussions. I will continue this mindset into college, and afterward, with a career, I have every intention to develop. So until then, I will continue to reach for my goals with the inspiration that I will reach a level of equals with who I look up to one day.
