“Why is it so important to get up early.” by Gyselle - January 2019 Scholarship Essay
People that wake up early have an insane productivity advantage. Have you ever asked yourself what is one thing most successful people have in common? It’s no secret that some of the greatest thinkers and achievers wake up early. For instance, Apple CEO Tim Cook wakes up at 3:45 a.m. and gets a head start on emails. First Lady Michelle Obama is working out by 4:30 a.m and Starbucks Exec Howard Schultz gets up at 4:30 am to walk his dogs, exercise, and then he makes coffee to get the day going. So why is it that these successful people and many more, wake up early?
Studies have shown that 90% of executives wake up before 6 a.m. on weekdays, and nearly 50% of self-made millionaires wake up at least three hours before their workday actually begins. People who have something to look forward to, don’t need an alarm clock. There are multiple benefits to waking up early, such as better concentration throughout the day, helps enhance your productivity and many more. Mornings, for me at least, are the most productive time of day. I like to do some meditation in the morning when there are no distractions, and in order to do that, I wake up early.
You’ve heard the excuse, “I don’t have enough time in the day.” or “I wish I had more time.” Better yet, what are you doing with the time you have? If you claim you don’t have enough time, what are you doing to create time? The truth is, you have the time, however, you may not be using it wisely. Elon Musk has 24 hours, Beyonce has 24 hours, Lebron James has 24 hours, Bill Gates has 24 hours and Mark Zuckerberg has 24 hours, you also have 24 hours, everyone has 24 hours.
Some people seem to be more successful than others, and the only reason to it is because they value time and know how important time is. Ask yourself, what are you accomplishing by sleeping in? You're missing out on so many opportunities of getting things done. As someone who wakes up every day early in the morning, I not only gain more hours in my day, I wake up early to achieve my target to become who I want to become in life, a successful person. That is why I truly believe waking up early is so important.
Although there are many days that are harder than others, for as much homework I have to do or tests that I have to study for, I don’t sleep when I’m tired, I sleep when I’m done.
