My Future by Gloria - June 2023 Scholarship Essay

Software engineering has grown astoundingly in recent years, and I am interested in participating in this growth as it expands. The increasing significance of technology in our society has motivated me to pursue this field further. I had an inherent love for technology and computer science from an early age. This passion only grew as I became more familiar with the many facets associated with software development. Through my academic and personal experiences, I have developed analytical and problem-solving skills that make me an asset to any organization in the field. I have become adept at understanding and manipulating complex algorithms by studying programming languages such as JavaScript, C++, and Python. My desire to pursue a career in software engineering has been further solidified through my past work experience in this area. I have worked on several projects, mainly in high school and currently in college. In high school, I worked on front-end (designing an app) and back-end (creating code for the app) projects. During my first year in college, I worked on creating a word game and building a website for users to find any scholarship more accessible; I want to make the website better so the website can be more efficient. These projects allow me to gain hands-on experience and apply my knowledge alongside industry professionals.

I find great satisfaction in knowing that the work I will do as a software engineer will contribute significantly towards the advancement of society by creating efficient systems that improve lives worldwide. In conclusion, I am highly motivated to pursue a career in software engineer because it holds immense potential for shaping our future world. My passion for technology and prior experience make me confident in pursuing a career path as a software engineer.
