For my Future Self by Evie - January 2018 Scholarship Essay

The word that I would use to describe why I want to go to college would be future. I know that this word is very cliché but it's true. College is that factor that will change my life forever. In college you study what you love, you meet new people, you find out more about yourself as a person. You also become more independent and learn a ton of new and necessary life skills. I believe that higher education is a step that will benefit me in the end. I want to go to college for my future self; for her success and happiness.
In college I plan to study my passion which is the performing arts. I believe that in depth study of acting, film, and theatre will teach me the things I need to know to be successful in such a cut throat industry. I will learn how to really indulge myself into playing a role. I will learn skills on how to move my body and how to naturally react to others in a scene with me. I will also learn skills such as listening, analyzing, and trusting my intuition. As an actor these things are very important because you want the audience to believe your performance.
College will also give me experience in my field. In class we will work on different genres of work and have amazing professors continually help us to become better. I will also be able to perform in school shows and student films. I am extremely happy about this fact because when I go out into the real world and start to book acting jobs, I will be more comfortable working in that kind of situation and atmosphere since I have already experienced it.
You make a ton of new connections when you go to college. You meet new people in your field and in fields similar to yours. Connections are great to have in the entertainment industry. Meeting these new people and creating relationships will definitely become beneficial in the future. Knowing the right people could open up some amazing opportunities that could change your life forever.
Working hard and becoming successful as an actress is my dream. I have many goals that I want to reach in my career. I would like to become an award winning actress who is involved in important, inspirational, eye-opening works of art. I hope that I am recognized by my peers and critics in the industry as a sincere, profound, and talented artist. I want to be an inspiration to others to work hard and to never give up on the things that they love. Should I gain fame and fortune I hope to be one who uses those blessings to give back to the world and to make positive change. I want to be a beacon of light for a world living in the dark.
College is a major factor in the success of my future self. I will learn how to improve in my work and I will meet amazing new people. I truly believe that college will give me the tools to become a successful person and my future self will thank me for my dedication, diligence, and determination.
