Volunteering experience by Ellen - April 2022 Scholarship Essay

A person can learn a lot from a volunteer experience. I have learned from my volunteer experience of training younger goalkeepers, multiple things like patience, confidence, and gratify.

Coaching little kids the sport and position you love by just the goodness of your heart to make them better and show them the correct way to do certain things so they do not hurt them selfs. By teaching them how to dive the correct way, catch the ball a certain way, or come out for the ball the right way just gives you gratification that you taught them that. When the move or dive clicks in there head and they get super excited and you being the coach gets super excited too. It has got to be one of the best feelings in the world.

There are rough patches when you coach little kids. Meaning they do not always pay attention, don’t understand, or just not getting it right, but it taught me patience. Patience to not give up or get super aggravated, but to help them understand more or find different ways to show them what your doing wrong. I also learned confidence by teaching them and them doing things correctly. The confidence to teach others.

Volunteering helps you learn a lot and in my case it helped me learn patience, confidence, and gratification. Also by volunteering it makes you give it your all and work better because you are choosing to do it.
