My Last Supper by Ella - February 2016 Scholarship Essay
As a Christian, those who do not follow Christ often question the sanity of those that do. Many argue that to believe in Jesus Christ as the only way to get to heaven is foolish, unfair, blind and then ask "Why would a "loving God" condemn so many to Hell?" I often find even those that do believe in Christ as Lord, don't even agree on the foundations of the faith. This reality often causes devision, which explains the the hundreds of denominations in the world.
I long to sit and have dinner with Jesus Christ, to ask the questions many like my self often ponder. Why allow suffering, pain, heartache, disease, war, injustice and death? Why allow the confusion amongst those that genuinely seek to know and follow you? Can you explain the "Trinity" so that I can understand and explains it to others? And finally, How can I truly know that I am going to heaven, never doubting, because my faith is often smaller than the size of a mustard seed.
The thought is dreadful and exciting at the same time. As the world's population of those that identify as Christian decrease and the costs that should be counted as His follower continue to rise, I'd like to experience the end from the beginning and be privileged to fully know why and have real answers for them that don't believe nor fully understand. All this having a bowl of Pho!
