Working Hard Is Great, But Be Confident Is Even Greater by Devora - August 2022 Scholarship Essay
Life is a continual learning process, which requires a strong method to develop better ways of apprenticeship. Personally, being able to obtain a higher education gives me an opportunity to be better in many ways. Everyone should have personal goals in life in order to survive, prosper and succeed in every journey that life gives. As for me, being a Jewish student in Women’s Institute of Torah Seminary and College (WITS), I hope to achieve all of my goals on which I have been trying to pursue and obtain through the years. They are goals that I believe I need to have in order to be a successful member of society and through attending college. I also hope to gain a more positive image of myself, build my personal growth, along with achieving my academic goals.
In the second semester of my first year, that’s when I realized I started to be a little more carefree with my college work. Then starting the summer semester, I realized that being too carefree through college is really not going to help me. This is a journey that needs to start all over again. To feel more motivated and confident again. Thankfully, I have already started walking my path, but for the year to come, this is a goal I wish to pursue. Staying more on top of my work, setting dedicated time slots to JUST school work, and really putting in the effort to make it worth it. For example, due to summer semesters being shorter than the fall or spring, I had less time to work on multiple papers that were all due around the same time. But because I had set specific time slots ahead of time, and told others that we couldn’t go out at that time, I ended up finishing a really good amount of my papers in a little over nine hours.
Although college isn’t an easy route, if we’re determined to make it so, this is where our confidence and motivation kicks in. We do it for ourselves, our self-interests, and not for others.
